In depth

Verdict

An extremely strong beginners event for the money. The Real Article hasn't proved himself anywhere near as good over fences as hurdles and though runner-up to the very useful Beachdale Lad at Roscommon last time he was beaten a long way. Nearest The Pin has also been slightly disappointing so far over fences but hasn't been beaten far in his last two starts and is beginning to get the hang of the job. Sizing Italy has had very little experience and has plenty more to offer. His recent second to Johannisberger was a fine effort and he has to be on the short-list. STEPS TO FREEDOM, a winner eight times in a fine career to date, made a very promising debut over fences behind the useful Arnaud at Roscommon and with further progress likely and conditions to suit he's handed the vote.
