In depth

Verdict

Few of these have inspired much confidence over fences so it would be no surprise if Volcanic Rock were able to concede weight all round. Much better now as a point-to-pointer, he gained his first success under Rules at Cartmel in May before a reasonable effort over timber at Bellewstown. He looks certain to go well but may not quite be up to conceding 9lb to FINISK ROSE, who is one of the few here with scope. David Kiely's mare attracted good support on ground with some give at Kilbeggan last time but failed to sparkle and her supporters will hope she can recapture her earlier form on faster ground at Tipperary and Clonmel. Adenauer has ability but his jumping and attitude leave something to be desired while Flying Johnny M hasn't shown much over fences and Michael Hourigan will be hoping first-time blinkers do the trick.
