In depth

Verdict

This is good quality handicap, with the prize attracting a number of last time out winners, with Conquisto's win looking a cut above the others and he is taken to follow up. Excape is five pounds higher than when scoring in game fashion at Beverley, and he is on a hat-trick here after a previous success at Windsor. They were both fast ground wins though, and he is opposed. Hepburn Bell did nothing wrong when landing her maiden at Beverley but this is a tough initiation into handicap company. It's A date followed up a good run at Newmarket last year by getting off the mark on his seasonal re-appearance at Newbury. This son of Kyllachy will appreciate the cut in the ground though he may have been harshly treated. The same remark applies to top weight Cool Judgement who is on a hat trick but has a little to prove here. Conquisto produced a game performance to get the better of Indian Days at Haydock, getting off the mark in the process. The runner-up has gone on to run a great race in defeat at York and off a higher mark landed a Redcar handicap last time. Conquisto therefore looks a sound proposition here.
