In depth

Verdict

Major Crispies does have winning form over this trip but has been racing over further. However, he met interference when favourite at Musselburgh last time, though needs fast ground to be seen at his best. Recent Newcastle scorer Ambitious Icarus does all of his winning over 5f but SWANTON BLUE is likely to be suited by a return to this trip having disappointed over the minimum the last twice. He still 7lb higher than when successful at Salisbury in May but Callum Shepherd’s claim almost halves that. Roys Dream didn’t stay 7f last time at Redcar and is worth a second look while Soaring Spirits is the only previous course winner in the line-up so warrants respect.
