      Verdict

      Ornate was withdrawn on account of the softer ground at York on Sunday and recent rain is not in his favour. It would not inconvenience either KACHY (NAP) or Waady, however, and they may fight out the finish. Both had strong form in Group 1 company last year but Tom Dascombe’s sprinter has done better this year, running well in the Palace House and the Temple Stakes in the spring, so gets the vote. Gracious John has plenty to find on these terms and Percy Toplis looks hopelessly outclassed.
