Verdict
A number of interesting newcomers add spice to this race and one of them, Matloob, can make a winning debut and deny David Loder's Salisbury Plain and the more-experienced Russian Ruby. Of course, the market will provide a number of clues here and Salisbury Plain, a son of Mark Of Esteem and a Dancing Brave mare, looks to have good credentials to go with his 140,000gns price-tag. Matloob, a son of Halling, might just have the edge on him, though, and Philip Robinson has elected to ride him ahead of the other stable representative. For us, they are the ones to focus on but don't rule out Geoff Wragg's Miss La Napoule, Sir Mark Prescott's Major Danger and Neville Callaghan's promising Newmarket second, Russian Ruby. Dunlea Dancer met trouble in running on his debut and is another who can do better this time.
