    Verdict

    A shocking turnout for a reasonable prize and it's likely AROD has frightened away the opposition. Peter Chapple-Hyam's Teofilo colt looked a bright prospect when landing a Windsor maiden in April and so it has proved, following that run with a narrow defeat by The Grey Gatsby in the Dante and an excellent fourth behind Australia in the Derby. Spark Plug is progressing nicely as his victories at Bath and Doncaster were followed by a reasonably close sixth in the Group 3 Tercentenary Stakes at Ascot. He'll improve again and should take second spot from the useful but more exposed Sir Jack Layden, who hasn't really progressed from last year's close second in the Royal Lodge.
