In depth

Verdict

A poor handicap chase here and Evan Williams can continue his good recent run of form with a win for WALSINGHAM, while Mattaking can also go well. It is hard to enthuse about many of these, but Walsingham merits strong consideration over a trip that suits and on the sound surface that he usually requires. A recent run should have him ready for this and we will side with him off this handy enough mark. Mattaking went close at Huntingdon last time but is back up 3lb as a result. Even so, he looks a likely improver for that chasing debut and in such a poor race is entitled to plenty of respect. Lady Roania does not win too often but she does stay well and the handicapper has given her a bit of a chance here if she can jump a bit more fluently. Ravenscar is on a dangerously low mark, which is not the case with Rash Moment, but we'll side with Walsingham.
