    Verdict

A chance is taken on RITUAL who was an expensive enough purchase to suggest he may have come on since his debut at Newbury in April, whilst Oh So Spicy may represent the biggest danger with two second places from her first outings and Aalsmeer is respected but has yet to fulfil expectations after some decent runs as a juvenile. We give the tentative vote to Ritual who showed plenty of pace on debut but didn't have enough stamina to last the mile trip, weakening within the final three furlongs. That would suggest today's distance is about right and he can start to pay back his 115,000 guineas price tag paid for him as a yearling. Oh So Spicy has put in some decent efforts on her first two starts and pedigree suggests she may progress further so she is considered in this very open contest. Aalsmeer put in some interesting performances last year but never seemed to improve and she was poor on seasonal debut at Lingfield. Although she is likely to have come on for that opener, she may be best watched on this occasion. Bouncy Bouncy and Mistress Shy are interesting newcomers but we side with Ritual to pick up the win.
