In depth

Verdict

Can Can Star can stop Choristar's follow-up bid, with Double Spectre, Jordan's Light and Norwegian all worth a place in the line-up. Can Can Star has not been out of the first two in four starts this year, including when successful at Wolverhampton in January. On his return to Turf at Bath 17-days ago he can be considered unlucky, as Shane Kelly was forced to take him wide throughout, the four-year-old going down narrowly to Double Spectre in the end. Richard Hughes takes over in the saddle now, with Tony Carrol's charge having the plumb draw in stall one. In addition, he can meet Double Spectre on 2lb better terms, so should have that one's measure at least. Choristar won as expected at Beverley, but did not beat much and has gone up in the weights as a result. The visored Jordan's Light may be running into form now, and Norwegian gets weight from all, so both have to be considered for a place, but Can Can Star has plenty going for him and is the one to beat.
