    Verdict

    PILGRIMS REST returned from a seven-month break to land what may well prove to be have been a very decent Newbury handicap this month. He's up 9lb for that impressive success but sets a fair standard here and looks the one to beat. District Attorney has shown plenty of promise in maiden company and looks on a workable mark for his handicap bow for an in-form yard, while Touch Gold also needs to be taken seriously on his first venture in handicaps as he went very well for a long way on his Newbury reappearance, will appreciate this better ground and still holds an entry in the Group 1 St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot.
