After landing a beginners' event at Clonmel, BATCIO (NAP) just failed to reel in Drumconnor Lad in a handicap here and was in front when falling 2 out in a Grade B handicap on a return visit so should gain compensation. Grand Partner struggled home and Niccolai pulled up in that latter event but Smithscorner battled on when caught on the run-in at Killarney. Envol Pierji scored over hurdles on heavy ground in October but has struggled in two starts over fences.
