In depth
Verdict
The Ring Is King rarely runs over a trip this short nowadays and won over 1m3f at Dundalk in March. Rathealy landed a 7f handicap on heavy ground at Gowran but couldn't cope with an 8lb rise over this trip at Killarney. Focussed easily landed a Tipperary handicap in April and, though beaten three times subsequently, it's a surprise to find him on a 3lb lower mark so he has to be on the short-list. Maudlin Magdalen completed a quick hat-trick in August and has probably needed her two runs this campaign but the vote goes to MISS GALLY RIO. She was just touched off over this track and trip before scoring over 7f at Limerick. She wasn't disgraced in a much better race won by Due Diligence at Naas last time where the 6f was too short and she can gain her second victory on just her sixth start.
