Verdict
Mankhool won a Thurles maiden for Denis Hogan last month and didn't run badly in a Cork handicap next time though the stable also run Ballyadam Destiny. He'd been chasing before overcoming a couple of late mistakes to land a handicap hurdle at Thurles and an 8lb rise is almost wiped out by Daniel King's claim. SPARKLING STARS is progressing nicely, beating a huge field over the minimum at Naas before just failing to follow up over 2m4f at Navan. He's up another 4lb but Danny Mullins can steer him home. Itsnotinit won a 3m handicap on heavy ground here in December so could find this a bit sharp on the going while Noble Birth also looked suited by testing ground when runner-up at Navan. Cahirdown Boy's victory over 2m here in December was on heavy going but Francois, a winner on the Flat and over hurdles in France, should be winning soon judging by his run at Thurles.
