A big field but few with any real pretentions of landing the spoils and MERCURY LANE should finally get off the mark. Paul Nolan's charge has been unfortunate to come up against some decent rivals and hasn't been beaten far so he'll be unlucky to meet a smart one here. Smokey The Bandit looked in need of more experience at Fairyhouse though stepping up in trip should aid his cause while Earth Furies ran a bit better at Thurles and looks a stayer in the making. Nobookwork is likely to improve for his run at Fairyhouse while winning point-to-pointer Rochestown wouldn't have been suited to a bumper here in December and this should be more his game.
