Verdict

A very competitive renewal for this nice prize though Gordon Elliott complicates matters with eight entries. Run Wild Fred is very smart on his day though a year's absence is a concern while Defi Bleu and Coko Beach were well beaten in the race a year ago. Mars Harper followed his opening chase victory at Galway by completing a double in a very strong Listowel handicap but Jack Kennedy deserts him in favour of last year's Irish National runner-up Frontal Assault, who looks as though he's been targeted at the race. Henry De Bromhead has two entries with Rachael on board the lightly-raced Walk Away, who looks as though he has more to offer. Last year's renewal looked even tougher than this and A WAVE OF THE SEA did well to finish fourth. He's not the most consistent but with conditions in his favour is taken to get back on the winning trail.
