In depth

Verdict

Kilfenora had shown nothing in three starts which is why he started 50/1 at Punchestown but defied the odds with an impressive victory on testing ground. Whether he can replicate that performance in soft ground is another matter and he has a penalty to carry. Winning bumper MORGAN overcame a last-flight error to win well at Naas and there looks more to come and Bryan Cooper picks him over Monbeg Chit Chat, who he steered to victory at Clonmel. Ask Nile also won on the latter track before finding Grade 3 company too hot while Aint Dunne yet is a chasing type who outstayed his rivals at Thurles and would be suited by further rain. The remaining pair are not out of this interesting little contest.
