In depth

An above average seller and DESERT DREAMER is our tentative pick ahead of Parisian Gift and Northern Desert. Course-and-distance form is important in races of this nature and our selection has all boxes ticked on that score. He can confirm the form of his recent race against C'Mon You Irons. Parisian Gift used to be trained by Tom Dascombe so he should know plenty about the horse in question. He doesn't seem the strongest of finishers so whether Lingfield suits is another matter entirely. Northern Desert wins plating contests with astonishing regularity at Lingfield Park. This is his toughest assignment for some time but it would be folly to discount him. Interactive is arguably better over six furlongs. Bigfanofthat was a useful sort when with Karl Burke but seems appallingly handicapped at present on the basis of his victory in a maiden on debut. Desert Dreamer gets the vote.

C'Mon You Irons (IRE) 13-8fav (9-7) Led 2f, stayed tracking leader afterwards, slightly outpaced 2f out, effort 1f out, not pace to challenge inside final furlong, 4th of 6, 3l behind One More Round (9-2) at Lingfield 6f sll (6) pol in Jan.

Desert Dreamer (IRE) 2-1jt-fav (8-11) Tracked leader, led narrowly 2f out, no extra when headed inside final furlong, lost 2nd post, 3rd of 6, 3/4l behind Mutamared (9-4) at Lingfield 7f clm (6) pol in Jan.

Interactive (IRE) 4-1 (9-7) Tracked leader, hard ridden to lead 1f out, headed and not pace of winner final 50 yards, 2nd of 5, 1/2l behind Jake The Snake (9-7) at Kempton 7f clm (6) pol in Feb.

Bigfanofthat (IRE) 16-1 (8-3) Chased leaders until weakened over 2f out, 7th of 8, 34l behind Allied Powers (9-3) at Ayr 1m 2f hcap (2) hvy in Sept.

Parisian Gift (IRE) 10-1 (8-11) Disputed lead, led over 2f out, ridden and headed inside final 2f, no impression, lost 2nd inside final furlong, joined for 3rd post, 3rd of 8, 1 1/2l behind Mutamared (9-5) at Lingfield 6f clm (6) pol in Jan.

Northern Desert (IRE) 2-1fav (10-0) Keen hold, held up behind, in touch, closed on leaders 2f out, ridden to lead just over 1f out, asserted inside final furlong, ridden out, won at Lingfield 7f sll (6) pol in Feb beating Hawkspring (8-11) by 1 1/2l, 6 ran.

Titus Gent 66-1 (8-7) Slowly into stride, always behind, 11th of 12, 25l behind Almahaza (9-0) at Southwell 1m hcp 0-50 (6) fbs in Feb.
