In depth

Verdict

The remarkable Cheese 'n Biscuits gets the vote here, with her biggest dangers seen as Rise and Minimum Bid. The Gary Moore-trained selection has won her last four races, and has risen 11 pounds in the ratings as a consequence. Given the fact that she has to be produced late in the day, this small field could well help her chances, so long as the pace is fair. Basically, the feeling is that she is better than a 78-rated handicapper and she can go well in her five-timer bid. Najaaba is a six-time winner on the all-weather, but has yet to score here, while the drop in trip today hardly seems ideal for Boot 'n Toot on her all-weather debut. Minimum Bid carries a penalty in a bid to add to an impressive win over six furlongs here last time, her first try in blinkers. They remain on today and she can go well, even though her best trip seems to be six furlongs. Brown Fox won an all-weather Deauville claimer last summer but was well behind the selection here last time, but Rise, even from out of the handicap, is 10 pounds better off with the selection for around two lengths based on when they met over course and distance on January 22, while Minimum Bid is two pounds better off for a length from the same race. Finally, much as Riquewihr is in form, she faces her toughest task to date under a penalty. That returns us again to the selection, which is Cheese 'n Biscuits.
