In depth

Verdict

The first race on the card is run on the all-weather track, and it is Gradetime that gets the nod over Hucking Hill, with Fairfield Princess and Crystal Gazer both worth a mention. Mark Wallace has another good team of juveniles this term, and had the option of running the very useful Espartano in this, but he was successful in a prior engagement on Monday, so it is Gradetime that fills the breach. She herself is no back number judged on the way that she improved to score at Southwell last month, given that she had finished a close second to Gilded just three days earlier at Warwick. The latter declines a rematch, and as she gets weight from most, the daughter of Danetime should run a big race. Hucking Hill has had four outings already and came good at Kempton a fortnight ago. If he runs well here, the Lily Agnes at Chester is on the agenda. Fairfield Princess got the better of Crystal Gazer at Kempton last time, but the latter was making her debut and is now better off at the weights, so should be capable of turning the tables on that rival at least. While respecting the claims of Crystal Gazer, we feel that it is worth taking a chance with Gradetime.
