Verdict
A number of these are worthy of consideration and this is a very competitive way to start the card. The shortlist includes: Athboy, who should make a bold bid to defy his penalty, Smart Boy Prince, who is bang in-form and is also chasing a hat-trick, and Norwegian, who has to be respected on his trainer's reputation alone. However, slender preference is for Somewhere My Love, whose chance is boosted by the fact that Kieren Fallon has not deserted her today. The daughter of Pursuit Of Love endured a nightmare passage when she failed to shine behind Athboy last time and was not given too hard a time when Fallon realised her chance had gone as they came inside the final couple of furlongs. However, she was traveling smoothly until she was hampered on the turn for home and is given the chance to put the record straight. Terry Mills' charge is better judged on her previous course and distance victory - which makes her a leading player here if she repeats the effort. There is no reason to suspect that she is not open to further improvement and, as Fallon is sure to be instructed to keep Somewhere My Love out of trouble this time around, everything looks to be in place for the champion jockey to rise to another challenge in a cracking opener to Lingfield's action today.
