    Verdict

A fair handicap on the polytrack to round off proceedings and HALSION CHANCER is the pick of the bunch though Santefisio and Buxton are others to catch our collective eye. John Best's charge was easily accounted for over six furlongs but with a number of pacesetters including the likes of Dvinsky in the field, he will get the strong pace he needs over what is a much more suitable trip. Santefisio is having his first run on an artificial surface. The way in which he kept on at Salisbury suggests that he will be suited to racing around here. Buxton has dropped significantly down the weights having previously campaigned on this surface off marks of 10lb higher in the past. Resplendent Alpha invariably appears unlucky in running though his win ratio says it all. Regeneration landed a nice touch here in August and went in recently at Wolverhampton. Connections are understandably keen to try again before the handicapper has his say. Ed Vaughan's yard are operating in better form than they were so Dance And Dance should not be discounted despite some moderate figures. Fiefdom won this last year though today looks a tougher renewal. Secret Witness won his maiden at Lingfield before two below par efforts on the turf and it will be interesting to see how the bookmakers react. Halsion Chancer looks a fair option at the likely odds.
