      Verdict

      DISCOVERER dead-heated for second on his racecourse debut over track and trip last month with Norwood Lane well back in ninth place. He should be up to winning one of these contests on that evidence and John Gosden's colt gets the nod. Ashdown Lad and Breeze On Bye will no doubt improve for their recent debuts, but will need to, and one of the newcomers could prove a bigger threat. Yajber is related to a host of winners, but the Dubawi colt Beggar's Banquet cost 56,000gns and he makes more appeal.
