      In depth

      Verdict

Ashleys Poppy showed promise on her debut at Plumpton but Nick Gifford's filly may not represent much in the way of value and it may be worth taking a chance with the newcomer Katalina, who is preferred to Flamehairtemptress. The last mentioned is a well related daughter of Dancing Spree and could be of interest on her debut. John Upson's Lake Barrine showed some ability on his debut when chasing home Camino Real but that was only a four runner contest so it is difficult to evaluate. Strategic Plan and Trempari are others worthy of a mention but it is Katalina that gets the vote. Henrietta Knight's filly is bred to be useful being a daughter of Hernando out of a Strong Gale mare and, with the yard's runners in form, she looks worth chancing.
