In depth

Verdict

Segal was well-supported last time out and can get back some of the losses today at the main expense of newcomers El Masir and Ambrix, with Si Belle another to watch carefully in the betting. The selection only went down by a short-head to the progressive Rockfield Tiger on his last start at the track and compensation awaits today. That was his first try at the mile but he got it well and as he acts well at this track then he should go well. El Masir looks the most interesting newcomer and Mark Johnston's son of Dubai Destination needs a market check, along with Mick Channon's Ambrix although his price dropped markedly as a two-year-old. Cathedral Walk and Lady Amberlini have both shown ability so far, whilst Si Belle is unexposed after just one start at Southwell. Awesome Light is a potential improver but he will be handicapped after this run and so we will return to Segal as the selection.
