In depth
Verdict
Best One showed improved form when a close third behind the in-form Samuel Charles over course and distance last time and, off the same mark today, Clive Brittain's gelding looks the one they all have to beat and he gets the vote ahead of Obe Royal and Mr Cellophane. The last mentioned has run to a similar level of form in two starts at Kempton this winter, handles the Polytrack here at Lingfield just as well and should again be thereabouts. Joy And Pain has won his last two starts but a 4lb rise for the latest of those successes leaves him with more to do today. Corlough Mountain was not beaten far in a mile handicap here last time and he has to be respected, although a bigger threat may come from the consistent Obe Royal from the yard of David Evans. Best One has plenty going for him though and he is preferred.
