        Verdict

        Patronage has an absence to overcome but may be fit enough to prevail against the likes of Jalwada, League of Nations and Group Captain. Patronage is a big, strong sort who shaped well on all three starts as a juvenile, culminating in a staying on third to the more fancied Forward Move at Newmarket in September. The son of Royal Applause will come into his own over the extra two furlongs today and as long as he is fit enough, should take all the beating. Jalwada is an interesting newcomer from the Marcus Tregoning stable-she is described as a likeable filly who has shown a willing attitude in her homework. Any support in the ring should be noted, while of the exposed animals, League of Nations may pay to note. Paul Cole's charge came up against the Coventry Stakes winner Iceman on his Newbury debut, and although he has not shone in two subsequent efforts, he will have strengthened up and should have no difficulty opening his account this year. Today though we will bank on Patronage being ready on his comeback.
