Verdict
Atlantic Gamble gets the call over Musango, Hallings Overture, King's Ransom and King After. The Lingfield card ends with a middle-distance handicap in which just a narrow vote goes to Atlantic Gamble, whose winning run came to an end recently at Wolverhampton, scene of his previous four victories. Those wins came in selling company and he is now around a stone higher in the weights, but we have a feeling that we have not seen the last of him, and the switch to the Surrey track might just do the trick. Musango is still a maiden, but judged by the way that he was gaining at the finish on his last visit here over 10-furlongs, he will not be one much longer. He can be a bit fractious at the stalls, but is one to follow. Halling's Overture is a hold-up performer, and needs to be produced just right, which is not always easy here. Nevertheless, he is on the short-list along with King's Ransom on the strength of his progressive maiden success. King After is a frequent visitor here, and often finds one too good, but is another that could easily figure. However, the pin comes down on Atlantic Gamble.
