Verdict
Trick Cyclist holds strong claims here and is chosen to ride away from Treasure Cay and Tony The Tap. Andrew Balding's gelding made a very favourable impression on the turf last season, winning his maiden at Bath, and subsequently running some fine races in defeat, must notably finishing just eight lengths behind Cape Fear in the valuable sales race at Doncaster. He proved his well being with an excellent second to Peruvian Style over course and distance earlier this month, that rival opposes again today on similar terms, but the selection is bound to improve for that outing and is fully expected to reverse the form. Treasure Cay made a successful debut here in December, the competition wasn't that hot, but he has bags of scope for improvement. Tony The Tap hails from a yard with an impressive all-weather record and returns here after beating Shrink in a maiden last month. Others to make a note of are Green Manalishi and Only If I Laugh, but on this occasion we will side with Trick Cyclist.
