        Verdict

        Hecton Lad's return to the turf last Friday proved disastrous but he ran out a clear winner at Kempton before that and is clearly capable of better. Indian Violet landed a double over C&D in December but has struggled off higher marks since and a tentative vote goes to BYRD IN HAND. He's been placed twice over longer trips here and John Bridger's headstrong gelding is worth a try back over a shorter distance today. Spirit Of Love could prove best of the rest having slipped down the weights and showed signs of improvement last time.
