Verdict
A poor maiden in which the narrow vote goes to Manchestermaverick ahead of Sir Ike. Hughie Morrison's gelded son of Van Nistelrooy comes here on the back of a good run at Catterick, a track which doesn't always suit horses. He was fine on the tight bend suggesting that this track will pose no problems and if he continues to improve as he did from first to second runs, then he can see off this motley crew. Sir Ike is the best of these on official figures but that doesn't say an awful lot, and he was well held recently at Wolverhampton. Station Place and Bakers Boy ran their best races to date when last seen but neither looks better than selling class, so a bigger danger may be Triple Dream who can be expected to improve on his recent debut at Newbury with this race infinitely easier. A terrible contest, but Manchestermaverick can land the spoils.
