        Verdict

        Palmetto Point gets the call here ahead of Run For Ede's and Botham. Palmetto Point gained reward for consistency when winning at Bath four days ago. Given that he is the type to only just do enough to win, he could be up to going well under his penalty despite his wide draw. Run For Ede's best run came over course and distance two runs ago so she holds place prospects, but Straight Face is struggling to recapture his juvenile form. Candyland ran well here three runs ago and, off the same rating, has to be given a chance, while the lightly raced Botham should strip fitter for his seasonal return, in which he showed promise, and he races in first-time blinkers today. Mariaverdi has seven lengths to find based on the form of that race. Finally, in what has the look of a modest event, Ella Y Rossa has enough form in the book to be given a place chance. Although there are a number of others that could improve for racing now in handicaps, for the selection we will stick with Palmetto Point.
