Verdict

A poor seller on the Polytrack gets proceedings underway, and MIDNIGHT BAY could oblige backers, with Mick Channon's charge being preferred to First Spirit and King's Chorister. There are better races to come than this though, so it's a minimum stakes race for us. Of the eight scheduled starters, only Zepnove has won before, and that was on debut back in Ireland more than a year ago. Although lightly raced, there's barely a placing between the others. Midnight Bay was last of six when tried over this trip here in March; he ran a little keenly before fading away, but that was a better race than this. First Spirit drops out of handicap company too; she's got an entry for a novice hurdle tomorrow, and jumping may become her game. King's Chorister is nought from ten, and has been well beaten in handicaps at this level, but Gay Kellaway does well here, and the yard's in decent form. Headgear's being tried on some of these for the first time to bring about some improvement, including a visor on our selection, Midnight Bay.
