In depth

Verdict

While the market is likely to give us plenty of clues, if MOCENIGO is considered good enough to hold entries in the Champagne Stakes and the Royal Lodge than Peter Chapple-Hyam's debutant needs to be winning this in order to justify those lofty engagements. Frege was easy to back on her debut over C&D and though she was predictably outclassed in the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot, she has to be respected on this drop in grade. Piper's Lass doesn't hold any fancy entries and may be best watched and No Jet Lag and Day In Day Out were well beaten when making their debuts in a soft ground maiden at Newmarket. The market didn't speak for either on that occasion though both are sure to have come on for the experience.
