          Verdict

          This is probably not a race to get too heavily involved in but Scott has proven himself on the surface, looks to be reasonably well treated and has the assistance of a decent apprentice so gets the vote ahead of Serramanna and Bienheureux. The very capable Adam Kirby takes the ride on the last mentioned, who has claims on the pick of his form but is not always the most consistent of performers. Red Sail seemed to handle the Polytrack at Wolverhampton last time and has to be respected on his first visit here, while June's course and distance selling winner Distant Cousin still seems a shade high in the weights. Supreme Salutation is far from certain to stay this far and of more interest may be Salut Saint Cloud, although lack of a recent run for Gray Moore's gelding is of concern. Serramanna is capable but may just be a shade high in the weights at present and a safer bet looks to be Scott, who is taken to resume winning ways.

          Serramanna 9-1 (8-3) Always prominent, ridden over 2f out, one pace final furlong, 5th of 16, 2 1/2l behind Summer Charm (8-10) at Lingfield 1m 4f hcp 45-70 (5) std.
