In depth

Verdict

Shalamzar won a premier handicap at this fixture a year ago and shouldn't be dismissed despite a poor run at the Curragh on Sunday. Bobby Jean was in excellent form on testing ground in the spring and with conditions in her favour can make her presence felt while the lone victory of Sr Cartage came on heavy going at Gowran in May. SNAKES AND LADDERS has won only once, over a mile at Naas, and he's been tried over hurdles. His last start was over 6f at the Curragh which proved much too short and this is more his trip so he gets the nod. Malicious Intent has had little experience for his age and gained his first victory when staying on strongly over this trip at Tipperary so he can make a bold bid to defy an 8lb rise.
