Verdict

GRACCHUS DE BALME, a winning point-to-pointer and hurdler, fell on his first two starts over fences but jumped well to score easily at Roscommon last month. Riaan, a dual winner over timber, made all and defied a last-fence error to make a successful chasing debut at Wexford and improvement looks guaranteed. The Dasher Conway was placed in a Listed handicap at Killarney in mid-summer while Uncle Phil was an impressive winner at Kilbeggan. The latter travelled well until weakening very quickly at Wexford earlier this month which didn't look his form. Great Bear won a maiden hurdle at Cork in July and bumped into a very smart chasing prospect at Killarney so looks a major threat receiving weight all-round.
