In depth

Verdict

A very good prize has attracted a strong line-up. Joseph O'Brien won the race last year and Galway maiden winner Common Practice may have been laid out for this after a long absence. Charlie Luciano has won four times since April though only scrambled home at Ballinrobe last time and is up another 7lb. Boher Road, a winner on the Flat in the summer, made all for a very impressive maiden victory over today's rival The Lovely Man at Wexford and makes his handicap debut as does Bojak, a game maiden winner at Cork. Gordon Elliott has three entries and Jack Kennedy's presence suggests NEW YEAR HONOURS, who didn't get the clearest of runs at Bellewstown, could be the pick of the trio. The stable's Samui had Spy a long way behind when scoring at Tramore though it wouldn't be a shock to see the places reversed. Jackpot De Choisel can also make his presence felt in a race where few can be ruled out.
