In depth
Verdict
This presents Mister Mustard with a cracking chance to get off the mark over hurdles and he is selected in preference to Dancing Rock and Oscar Foxbow, who are shaping up nicely but lack the experience held by the selection. Follow Up is another to place on the shortlist, as the form of his reappearance is working out well and he could be a different proposition now that he has a got a seasonal run behind him. Oscar Foxbow progressed well to win a bumper here last November, when he showed a willing attitude to force his head in front near the finish. He can only benefit from this hurdling debut and is one for the future. So too is Dancing Rock, who also caught the eye when he made his debut last summer. He is sure to have been given every encouragement since he joined the Phillip Hobbs yard and a market move for him will be very interesting. However, Mister Mustard was just short of Listed class last season and sets a fair standard for the rest to aim for this afternoon. It is no surprise to see him revert to timber after failing to sparkle in three starts over fences this term. However, those outings are sure to have put a competitive edge on Mister Mustard and, as he would be giving lumps of weight away if this were a handicap, his connections have found him a good opening to put his experience and race-fitness to good use.
