Verdict

Prince du Beury, Tiger O'Toole and SAM WHISKEY make up the shortlist here, with the Jonjo/McCoy combo getting the vote. Sam Whiskey's making his handicap debut, and the yard know how to turn them out in this company. His best runs to date came on the flat in Germany, but he's been far from disgraced in three runs here over hurdles. Nicky Henderson won this race last year, and Prince du Beury is the joint top rated here, with Felix de Giles able to claim a handy three pounds. He may be in the grip of the handicapper though. This French bred horse though hasn't been able to build on a debut success back home, (and that was on the flat in testing conditions), although he was a respectable fourth when making his seasonal debut last month. Evan Williams' runners here should always be respected, and the lightly raced Tiger O'Toole is getting to grips with the game. He's been entered for a few other races over further in the next few days, but presumably he thinks this is his best chance of winning. Teenager Georgina Andrews won a lady's handicap on Viable two races back, and they're looking a useful partnership. It's not the greatest race on the card, but there has to be a winner, and we think the most likely is Sam Whiskey.
