Verdict
CARRY ON SYDNEY scored on the Flat for Richard Hannon and made a very encouraging hurdles debut behind the potentially useful Dawalan at Newbury. He doesn't have a jumper's pedigree but handled the soft ground well enough and should go one better. He was 18l in front of dual Flat winner Astrum and it was another 12l to Interior MInister, who will both come on for the run but seem very unlikely to reverse the form, while Hurricane John finished tailed off last. French recruit Garde Ville has been disappointing to date though over longer trips so it's Chebsey Beau who may prove the main threat as he finished a close third to Certification at Wetherby a fortnight ago and the winner had run well in the Newbury race won by the selection. Mr Vendman was very moderate on the Flat and beaten a long way when runner-up on his hurdling debut.
