In depth
Verdict
A poor race but one in which Native Chancer narrowly is preferred to Qualitair Pride and Zahunda. Native Chancer is a very tricky ride but Jamie Moore is a strong man to have in the saddle. The partnership were narrowly beaten at Southwell last weekend and while the jockey had to switch his stick at least four times in the closing stages; having it knocked out of his hand will not have helped. Qualatair Pride has often trailblazed in the past. She can run up to a level of form though when under restraint. Zahunda has never threatened in four attempts under this jockey. Gondolin was gambled a couple of months ago when first time cheekpieces were applied at Stratford. Seraph has had a recent pipe-opener on the flat and has Tom Doyle booked tonight. The market is watched. Althea Gee had ran well in a seller prior to a fair second in a non-seller at Uttoxeter. She is moderate but at least consistent. Night Mail has very few miles on the clock for a five-year-old but staged a disappointing reappearance at Cartmel. A good prize for such modest horses and Native Chancer can come good on this occasion.
