Verdict

MASTER OF IRONY, three times a winner on the Flat for Ralph Beckett, made a successful hurdling debut at Catterick before failing to cope with Sam Spinner on a return visit though the remainder were well beaten. This should be well within his capabilities. Monbeg Oscar, a winning point-to-pointer, will have found two miles too short on his hurdling bow at Ludlow and will have benefited from the experience but winning bumper Broughtons Rhythm has run poorly on his last two starts. Land League was having his ninth start between the flags when successful at Tattersalls Farm in November.
