In depth

Verdict

This is a non-carnival meeting for the locals. Rua Augusta earned top rating with his three runs for Kevin Ryan last summer but he's run poorly since a reasonable start on Dirt here. He was behind BIG BROWN BEAR a month ago and Doug Watson's charge, who has a tremendous Dirt pedigree and started favourite though never got involved, is expected to do much better and recoup losses. New Arch, who finished in front of the pair of them, has been well beaten in two subsequent starts. Ismail Mohammed has two entries but Heart Power performed badly in January after a decent start behind the very smart Rayya a month earlier. Grand Storm finished a long way last on his debut here but did much better at Jebel Ali subsequently and his sire was a champion Dirt performer.
