        In depth

        Verdict

        Kimbear is top-rated here having made a winning debut on Dirt in the USA before making an impressive start here in January. He landed a Group 3 in March, when stablemate Drafted was a long way behind, and obviously goes well fresh though his victories on this track have been over a mile. The latter didn't stay the trip that day and is much better over this distance and 7f as he showed when completing a double earlier. Another Doug Watson entry, Almanaara, was beaten three lengths by Drafted over the track and trip in January. Raven's Corner easily beat Kimbear over 7f in February but was receiving 13lb, though is another more likely to be suited by today's trip. High On Life is a genuine sprinter with eight victories to his credit though he disappointed at Jebel Ali last month after landing a handicap there. He only had half-a-length to spare over DUTCH MASTERPIECE on good ground here in February when receiving 7lb so the latter must have a chance of reversing the form. He's never run on the surface but scored at Southwell on his debut way back in 2012.
