      Verdict

The Happy Prince, a Group 3 winner on heavy going at the Curragh, made a cracking start here when runner-up in a tough handicap before struggling in a Listed contest. The very consistent Magnus Maximus completed a double when landing a Class 2 handicap at Ascot in September and will have come on a bundle for a promising debut here last week. He was behind third-placed Fityaan that day and the latter, a Group 3 winner last March, is always respected around here. Log Out Island, the 2015 Two-Year-Old Trophy winner for Richard Hannon, won a Listed contest at Newbury in May but didn't make the expected progress in better company on his next two starts. Godolphin are also represented by Steady Pace, headed right on the line by FINAL VENTURE on the same terms as today and the winner can confirm the form, as he did when they met again a couple of weeks later, and get back on the winning trail.
