In depth

Verdict

Alareef has won four times in South Africa, including on the Sand surface at Vaal. He'll be one of the few Mike De Kock runners on Dirt here and should go well. Muhtaram won twice over a mile before finding Filfil just too strong on his hat-trick attempt. He's been in the lead over today's trip in all those starts so dropping down shouldn't create a problem. IDLER was a regular winner for Mark Johnston in the UK and came here in November after a two-year break. He was never in the hunt that day but showed the benefit by scoring over 6f at Jebel Ali last month and, with the extra furlong in his favour, can complete the double. Mooqtar made a successful debut for Kevin Prendergast at Leopardstown in February and has returned to something like form recently so he's on the short-list along with the lightly-raced former Godolphin winner Bombardment and his stablemate Centrifugal, the choice of Pat Dobbs.
