In depth

Verdict

Island Falcon led 2f out and stayed on nicely to score over 7f at Nottingham and, though that wasn't the strongest of maidens, he'll have been earmarked for a trip out here. The stable also run Bath winner Nader, who didn't handle the Dirt surface here on New Year's Day. Godolphin are also represented by the expensive New Kingdom, who battled on well when making all in a decent novices' event over a mile on fast going at Haydock and looks the pick of their entries. Pontefract Listed winner Mr Professor made his track debut in the Classic Trial over 7f here last week and, always up with the pace, he stayed on nicely to finish third. However, SED MAARIB was given far too much to do, finishing strongly to get within half-a-length of the winner, and can gain compensation.
