        Verdict

        Plenty in with chances in a typically open Showcase event but Oscar Pepper comes here in excellent heart and is just preferred. David Barron's gelding has been running creditably in defeat in valuable sprints on the all weather of late and returns to the turf on a fair mark so should go well with Kieren Fallon booked for the ride. Friday's Takings and Marjurita are others to consider after profitable campaigns on the all-weather while Everest and Zhitomir will be sharper for their recent reappearance and enter calculations on the pick of last year's form. Ballyhurry was a model of consistency last term but may just need the outing following a six-month absence.
