Verdict
A big field for the opening race on the card with several of the 17-strong line up holding claims in what is not a great contest in terms of quality. The 11-year-old Francoskid is something of a rarity in that he has actually won a race recently, having landed a 2m4f handicap at Down Royal in December. Although disappointing off his new mark at the same track subsequently, he has to be respected in such lowly company. The novice Spot The Native does not appear particularly well treated on his debut in handicap company, while Nisbet was well beaten on his over 2m4f here last time. Benefit is capable of taking a hand but is inconsistent and more solid claims are held by Mary Reveley's Left Bank, who put up one of his better performances at Carlisle last month. Profiler has claims with the Ferdy Murphy stable in better form now but the selection is the topweight Joe Di Capo, who races off the same mark as when chasing home all-the-way winner Sireric under testing conditions at Newcastle last month. Provided that contest has not taken its toll, he has to be respected and looks the one to beat.
